Vacation pics!

K and R just came back from what they tell me were ten wonderful days in Mazatlan, Mexico.  I wouldn't know because I didn't get to go, but they said they would take me next time.  Here are just a couple of photos from that trip, with more to come as soon as K gets done editing them.

This is the view from the balcony in their room.  I so want to go run on that beach!

They were there for Christmas and this is how the hotel was lit up at night.

Wow!  They saw whales!  How cool is that!

Aren't they cute!  I had lots of fun with my petsitter, but I kind of missed them, too.  I'm glad they're home!

Not a good sign...

So here it is, January 5th, and K hasn't posted anything on this 365-day blog for 15 days.  Guess that means she'll have to post 15 photos to make up for it!!  Let's see, where should she start?  Oh, here's one from outside Grandma's house, right before she went on vacation.  It was raining....

Christmas at the mall

K is very proud of this photo because it won a weekly photo challenge for her on the Internet for the first time.  She told me she took it at the old Emporium building on Market Street, looking straight up at the dome.  I think the photo looks so cool and I wish I could see where it was taken, but I sneeze when I look up.

The new and improved Box

Welcome to the new and improved Pandora's Box.  Now that K is almost finished with her Masters program, the goal this year is to post one photo each day that represents our life, our family, our activities, our travels, our ups and downs, and our journey through the world.  It won't always be about me, but all my fans can rest assured that since I am a member of the family, I'll definitely be around.

Wet dog alert!

We are in Jackson, California, in the Gold Country and we're staying at a place called the Jackson Lodge. It's been really hot here and Mommy and Daddy decided to go for a swim in the pool. I got to go with them because Daddy needed me to show him how to get there.

Well, Mommy and Daddy got into the pool and they were just playing around. They told me to lie down next to the chair but that was too far away so I got up and went up to the edge of the pool. Mommy and Daddy were teasing me and I was trying to lick their faces and oh no! I fell in!!!

It was a little bit scary and I didn't have any idea how to get out! And I still had my harness on! Daddy and another man lifted me up so I could get my paws on the edge of the pool, then they pushed me out of the water. I shook and shook myself to get all the water off me. Mommy and Daddy were laughing so hard. I thought I was going to get in trouble because I knew I wasn't supposed to go in the water but they said, no, I was a good dog and it must have been an accident.

I know better... and it was fun!! :-)

Going home...

Yesterday I saw my first mom for the first time in over a year. Do you remember my first post when I talked about the girl who raised me from a puppy? Well, we went to see her yesterday and it was so nice! I got to see her, her mom and her sister. I also got to see my big sister, Fatima! She was also in the guide dog program but all she wanted was to be a big lap dog, so she left the program and went back to live with Mackenzie. It was so much fun!! We all went to Mackenzie's grandparents' house where we got to run, and play and wrestle. It was fun to see the goats and the ducks again and to race around the garden and see how big the pumpkins were. I hope we get to go back again real soon.

Swimming!

I went swimming this weekend for the first time (I think)! Mommy and Daddy took me to see Mommy's sister in Ukiah, and we brought along Mommy's niece, Mackenzie, so she could see her cousin Katharine. I also got to see my "cousin" Lola, Katharine's dog. I've only met her once before and she's a lot of fun to play with.

We drove up to the Eel River and found a place where we could park and go down to the water. It was so pretty, even though the beach was mostly rocks. Everyone decided to go into the water because it was so hot. Lola went running into the water but I hadn't been in a river before so I decided to go a little slowly. Mommy and Daddy walked about halfway into the river and it was only up to a little above their knees. That's how tall I am....

When I went into the water, it felt strange. I didn't know I could walk through it so I tried to lift my paws out of the water with each step I took. After a while, though, I realized that it was okay to walk through it, and even run through it. Lola was swimming all over the place and she thought I was being very funny! Eventually, I figured out how to swim (they called it "dog paddling", I wonder why?) and it was really fun. I tried to pick up a stick from the ground and got water up my nose. Mommy laughed really hard when I sneezed!

I got cold after a while, so Mommy fixed up a towel for me where I could lie in the sun and rest. Daddy gave me some watermelon and that tasted so good!

Afterwards, we went back to the house for dinner, then Mommy and Daddy and I went to our hotel. They had a really comfortable bed and I was supposed to sleep on the floor. Don't tell anyone, but I slept on the chair instead and it was so nice. I hope we get to do this again really soon.
